THIS IS AN EXCERPT FROM DR AUDI’S BOOK SUCCESS SECRETS FROM KENYAN POLITICS

“I can’t do this because I don’t have this and that.”

“I did not do that because the government has not done that.”

“I did not do it because I lacked time.”

These are statements that are made by losers when giving excuses of not doing what they want or are supposed to do. You must have heard them from someone or you may have uttered them. Such statements are just filthy meaningless excuses that have no value in life.

One of the headlines in the August 2017 general election was the election of John Paul Mwirigi- the youngest Member of Parliament in Kenya’s history. Mr Mwirigi became an MP when he was just 23 years old. He was declared winner of Igembe South parliamentary seat on tenth of August 2017 after garnering 18,867 votes against ruling Jubilee’s party.

He defeated his competitor with over 3,000 votes. Mr Mwirigi, who was a Bachelor’s of Education student at Mount Kenya University won the seat with no flashy campaigns. In fact, despite being an independent candidate he campaigned on foot.

He did not make excuses of not having enough money to support his campaigns. Him being not nominated by any party did not stop him from campaigning to become what he wanted. The fact that he did not have vehicles to move him across his constituency did not limit his passion.

In life, you either make choices or excuses. John Paul Mwirigi made choices and not excuses. He lacked vehicles but that wasn’t an excuse for him. He made a choice of doing door-to-door campaigns. He was not nominated by any party but that was not excuse. He made a choice of being an independent candidate.

When you find yourself making excuses on things, it doesn’t mean that you can’t do them. It means that you just don’t want those things. If you really wanted them, you would have made choices on how to really get them.

The fact that the last meal you took made you have a stomach upset does not mean you should stop eating forever. If you cannot make an excuse of not eating, drinking or taking a bath, then don’t make an excuse for not becoming successful.

If you really want that job, company, house, lady or lifestyle then you have to do all you can to get it. You have to make choices that will take you from where you are to where you want to be. Remember, when you don’t make sacrifices for what you want then what you want becomes the sacrifice.
